Mike is a member of the ISIS Business & Technology Advisory Board and has been associated with Summit System operations as a Guest Technical Co-Chairman since 1988, and earlier as a Client of this system.With both a strong commercial and military systems background, Mike held key management positions at Norden Systems division of United Technologies, operating in such roles as Director, Hardware Engineering and Director, Business Development. He has been responsible for line operations involving a staff exceeding 600 professionals and support personnel. At Norden, in addition to being the Director of Engineering, Mike was also Director, Business Process Improvement. In that role he was Staff to the President, and responsible for the Total Quality Management of the company. Mike's most recent role was the Director of Venture Products and Business Planning. His areas of technical expertise include electronics, mechanics, physics, optics, electro-optics, acoustics, acousto-optics, advanced materials, systems design and applications development. These areas of expertise were derived within the commercial, military and industrial fields.
Earlier in his career, Mike was Chief Research Engineer for United Technologies Corporation; Head of Advanced Technology for The Singer Company; Director Hardware Design for Harris Corporation; and Vice President, Engineering for Diagnostic/Retrieval Systems.
Mike has been granted more than twenty seven U.S. patents; has had fourteen technical articles published in major, peer-reviewed technical journals in the areas of surface physics, lasers, electro-optics, and acousto-optics; has given over twenty major presentations at prominent scientific society meetings, four of which were invited; is involved in several professional societies including the Optical Society of America, the American Physical Society, the Society of Sigma Xi. He has served as laser consultant to College of Medicine, University of Cincinnati Medical Center and is listed in "Who's Who in American Men and Women in Science." He has held Secret and Top Secret security clearance throughout his career.
Mike's educational background includes a B.S. Physics from University of Notre Dame; Predoctoral Fellowship from Cornell University, Owens-Corning; a PhD Physics from University of Notre Dame and enrollment in the MBA Program at University of Connecticut. He is married, has three adult children and is a citizen of the United States.
