Prof.dr. Jan de Wit

 

Jan is a member of the ISIS Business & Technology Advisory Board with world-class experience in coatings, printing inks and adhesives technologies gained over a 32 year career with The Netherlands-based Akzo Nobel nv. Currently, he is a part-time professor at the Radboud University of Nijmegen (The Netherlands) teaching Research Strategy and Management in the Science Faculty and conducting research on Innovation Management in the changed setting of University/Industry cooperation.

Prior to he his semi-retirement, Jan concluded his career with Akzo Nobel as Staff Director Technology for the Corporate Funded Program of Akzo-Nobel at its headquarters in Arnhem, Netherlands. Before returning to headquarters he was R&D manager of a Business Unit (Deco Europe) and a member of the Management Team with responsibility for 10 laboratories in research on Decorative Coatings (wall-paints, lacquers) mainly directed at transforming the current products from solvent-borne to water-borne.

Still earlier, Jan was General Manager R&D Coatings Netherlands in Sassenheim and member of the Management team of Akzo Coatings BV where he was in charge of a 400-member R&D department with sub-departments in car refinishes, decorative coatings, automotive coatings, general industry and services. Prior to that he was R&D Director of Tintas Ypiranga, São Paulo (Brasil) a paint company acquisition of Akzo Nobel that was triple the size of the current Akzo Nobel business (Tintas Wanda). Here a new company had to be formed with a new Management Team and a 160-person R&D organization under Jan's direction.

Earlier, at Akzo, Jan was R&D Director of Synthese with responsibility for research in coating, printing ink and adhesive resins (75 persons) and a member of the Management Team and Executive Director Synthese Malaysia with shared responsibility for the company Synthese Malaysia in Melaka.

Jan earned a B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at the University of Groningen, Netherlands, is married with two sons and two grandsons and a citizen of The Netherlands.
