Donald M. Riley

Don is an Associate Vice President of ISIS with direct responsibility for market development of ISIS operations on the west coast of the United States and senior involvement in client programs, particularly those focused on technology commercialization and market development. Over 30 years of senior business, sales and market development experience has made Don a business and technology generalist with special expertise in assisting high tech start-ups to secure funding and implement enterprise, channel and OEM sales, along with product management and team building.

Specific areas of expertise include both domestic and international market development of leading edge graphic arts and information management systems in diverse industries such as: insurance, health care, utilities, video game and security. He has been involved in pioneering efforts in multimedia product development, image database management and data security. Don has had additional senior responsibilities for computer graphics application areas in Pre-press, Animation, Textile Design, Printing and Production, Architecture, Medical Imaging and Analysis, Stereolithography, and other markets, often at the pioneer and "early adopter" stages.

Prior to his ISIS affiliation, and as Corporate Sales Manager of FilePool, Don was engaged in sales of storage/content management infrastructure to companies in the Financial Services, Utilities, Health Care, Publishing, Entertainment, SFA, Telecommunications, and Security sectors. Don initiated and authored the "Corporate Case Studies" approach to the ROI issue regarding the adoption of FilePool technology. This group of short analytic views of representative companies in important niche markets became a key factor in the sale of FilePool to EMC. These Case Studies explored business potential in the areas of Financial Services, Publishing, Library Science, Utilities, and Entertainment.

Before entering the high technology arena in the mid 80s, Don was a wine importer specializing in boutique wineries in Northeastern Italy. This work was a direct offshoot of earlier work in Italy as a teacher and technical and commercial translator, where he worked in the field of technical translations in Biochemistry, Nuclear Power applications, NATO field weapons training, Chemistry, Agricultural Machinery, and Transportation. At the Oxford School of English in Udine, Don taught professional level total immersion ESL courses in preparation for Oxford University English Proficiency Exams to on-site engineering staff and administration, and various professional firms including: architects, attorneys, accountants, engineers, marketing firms, and hospital staff psychiatrists.

Don has a B.A. in American History, with a minor in American Intellectual History from S.U.N.Y. College at Fredonia. He is married, with five children and lives in the San Francisco area.
