Mike brings over 20 years of hands-on operating management and new business development consulting experience to the ISIS senior operations team and his role as Chief Operating Officer of the firm. His experience spans a range of advanced technology-based industries, with emphasis in telecommunications and Internet related businesses. Mike has direct experience in planning and directing high-level corporate marketing, change management and operating procedures for both U.S. and global business ventures. He has developed and implemented corporate re-engineering initiatives meeting the challenges of complex start-up, reorganization and high-growth ventures.Formerly, as Executive Vice President of Community Telephone of Kansas City, a (CLEC) division of Qcomm Corporation, Mike consolidated company divisions, increased product offerings, created a corporate marketing department and new product development functions. The result was the successful launch of Internet VoIP, B2B, B2C and dial-up services. The company's customer service was also dramatically improved under Mike's management through development of new systems and training procedures.
Prior to this management post, and as management consultant, Mike led process re-engineering efforts for a US$420 million global telecommunications company. He developed sales, marketing, customer service, traffic, provisioning, network engineering and business plans, and implemented high level training procedures with the company's management to reengineer business processes and adopt structured mechanisms for measuring results.
Mike's business planning and negotiating skills were applied to the engineering and launch of a joint venture between Telefonos de Mexico (Telmex) and Groupo Orvitel (the largest audiotext company in Mexico). This JV became the largest worldwide Mexican-based teleconferencing company within one year. During this initial six-month effort of a three-year $144 million project, Mike managed a multi-million-dollar budget involving sales development, marketing, training procedures and manuals, customer service and business procedures. Mike hired and trained a permanent general manager to replace himself.
Earlier, as COO for American Teleconferencing Services (now Premier Conferencing), Mike developed new strategic plans involving marketing, sales and organizational initiatives. Results in productivity, product development, and quality improvement drove annual revenues from $5.4 million to $20+ million in four years. He repositioned ATS as a professional services company with new business and communications capabilities enabling it to compete against larger vendors within niche markets. The company was sold for $57 million.
Mike's consulting experience derives from his position as Senior Vice President and Partner of Travis Associates, a business strategy, marketing and acquisitions firm, and earlier as Senior Program Manager at Innotech Corporation, a firm specializing in the technology of innovation.
Mike's educational background includes an M.A. and M.A.T. from the University of Massachusetts; a BA from the University of New Mexico; and a Certificat from the Universite de Grenoble. Mike served as School Board President in his community and coaches youth sports. He is married, has three adult children and is a citizen of the United States.
