The DOW CHEMICAL COMPANY in the USA. A Summit System focused their INSITE® catalyst and polymer technology on the adhesives industry. Results:

Annual sales of US$50 Million within 1.5 years generated by one Panelist alone.

Dow expected sales beyond $100 million directly from this Summit investment.

Dow has conducted multiple Summit programs.

 

PERLOS GROUP, a European plastics fabricator. A Summit System focused on controlled environment, precision injection molding capabilities directed at the healthcare market. Results:

New global division created. (Panelists named it. We wrote its first brochure) Initial multinational customers secured (Panelists) and first major contracts signed within ~ 12 months of Summit.

The Summit was an important kick-off for creating a separate Perlos Division, Perlos HealthCare, specializing in offering state-of-the-art customer moulding and assembling services for major pharmaceutical companies. Because of the Summit, Perlos Pharma had capabilities to grow together with its parent company, which had an annual sales growth from US$25 to $500 million in 8 years following the Summit.

 

HOECHST USA/EUROPE, A hybrid Summit/Discovery focused their new filtration technology into multiple markets (as reported in Technology Business Magazine, Nov/Dec 1997). Results:

12 market opportunities each worth more than US$50 Million/yr.

Sales went from 0 to an undisclosed US$ millions within 18 months of program conclusion (became an MBO and remained private, no sales figures published to date).

Secured manufacturing & marketing alliances in the USA and Europe, the first of which we helped negotiate during the program.

Created short-term cash-generating business in air quality, and longer term breakthrough opportunities in healthcare.

Clients often note that results received in just the first 5 months of a Summit program would generally take them from 1.5 to 2 or more years to generate, if at all, using traditional methods involving in-house resources or outside consultants.

Of greater value, we think, are the actual customer sales or alliance opportunities that move to validation and negotiation during the next 6 to 16 weeks following the first 5 months. A good target is US$200 to $300 Million in sales opportunities validated and off the ground within 6 to 9 months of start, depending on the intrinsic strength of the client's product, service, or technology.
